I agree, it would be really to have such functionality. It would allow one to do fine-grained filtering which files should be/shouldn't be backed up.

On that note, it might be worth looking into KaTeX: https://katex.org/ It is basically like MathJAX, but faster and more lightweight. And yea, I agree, support to add LaTeX-styled formulas...

SVG support is a great idea! It might be also worth mentioning, that SVG files can also be animated.
