Late answer, but for others looking for an alternative (and who only need protobuf tile service AND SVG Renderer in their application) I can recommend [Leaflet.VectorTileLayer](https://gitlab.com/jkuebart/Leaflet.VectorTileLayer).

Suggestion for blank image on safari

Still doesn't work on Safari 18.4 (iPad) with v1.11.13. I tried all the workarounds I could find here and the only way I got this to work on iPad Safari...
