Yes this is a big bug. When creating a variable via ng-init and using it in ng-model the toggle doesn't work.
So I found the problem. The time on my server was off by more than 5 min. This command fixed it: sudo ntpdate pool.ntp.org
I agree with some of the other people comments on this thread. If metals does explicitly start the Bloop server it would make sense for it to kill the process...
