This looks like a nice app. What needs to be done to port it to Windows? Is it possible at all?

This is a long-term issue.

The cleanup function cleared the timeout without resetting the timeout ref, so in strict mode (or in general when React calls cleanup but then ends up not unmounting) the effect...
