@rocodes can we consider this one fully closed? You had suggestions for dealing with the apt repos, which I believe are still part of this.
I'm guessing the purpose here is security and not only preventing a file to be mistakenly opened, but also to mitigate against someone maliciously attempting to trigger it to open...
