This explains my observation as my json file was initially minified.
Well, something seems to delete carets. This shouldn't happen.
Changing syntax version likely requires lots of meta-scope adjustments.
I guess he want's reST highlighting in python documentation comments. This would require to remove various restrictions with regards to leading whitespace on the one hand and may cause confusion...
It may be useful/worth thinking about options for RST to not be too restrictive with regards to leading whitespace, which would enable it being embedded in other syntaxes seemlessly. Markdown...
