I tested the feature briefly, but it was not able to detect an update available for one of the snap i had snap revert'ed.

The branch now covers most changes required to finish the transition to the branded-store style and navigation model.

Can you rebase to master, and more importantly update to protect the new API calls with the simple cookie check like other end-points ?

I think I addressed all comments. I have refactored the code a bit more to improve the test coverage.
