I found a workaround and [opened a ticket](https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mobile-broadband/ModemManager/-/issues/459) upstream.

As of linux-megi-5.17.6-1 the issue is gone for me.

No Docker, normal install, I have followed the provided instructions, same issue. For me, cURL download has _never_ worked.
