Ricochet is abandoned. There was Ricochet-Refresh try to revive it and it is abandoned too. Should work on Cwitch.im
The goal of including Tor with Ricochet is that people with no system-wide Tor, like Windows users can use Ricochet easily. Ephemeral onion services make easy for Ricochet to manage...

On the security view, the code and the structure is so big I doubt it's safe to use. But it's a good project.
Hello @holmesworcester , Ricochet IM is an abandoned project. This repository is not updated. There was an attempt to renew it on https://github.com/blueprint-freespeech/ricochet-refresh https://ricochetrefresh.net/ but it is already abandonware too....
-Recompiling with Qt 5.12 LTS. -Master branch, no need to review pull requests. -Update Tor to latest 0.3.x series. I already did it locally, but I don't own this official...
