There's no single reference to setUserAgentString() in my code, so I'm not sure what could cause that behavior. Have you tried if the same happens with a regular WebView?

At least 3 Ubuntu users and at least 1 Mac OS user reported that the notifications don't work when there's no WhatsApp tab open, that may be because of this...
