Had the same problem with Python 2.7 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I tried removing the `from __future__ import unicode_literals` statements but that didn't really work for me.

I can start from the SSL error and trace my steps back, but I have no clear idea of what might be the underlying issue.

Having the same problem connecting my PAUSE account. I do get the token eventually, but there's no way to input the token into the identities page.

We've found a good workaround, which is to simply add the directory name for the private actions checkout to `.gitignore`.

Can you try v0.10, now out on CPAN?
