I support this fix—it would certainly help with cleaner packaging in [nixpkgs](https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/4dffd09d8f3038fa33e8255d7071553a8e2eb652/doc/languages-frameworks/rust.section.md?plain=1#L82). Looking forward to seeing it merged!
Are there any plans to move forward with this PR? This is still an open issue.
