These are all valid points and observations. `deunicode` does indeed translate characters and emojis like you mentioned, and then the natural sorting would sort them as if they were Latin...
I am also experiencing this same issue. It would be nice to not have this be a glaring error in my editor (neovim) even if it compiles fine.
