I would experiment with LinkFinder.start_element() in linkcheck/htmlutil/linkparse.py.

I think this is a Scintilla issue https://sourceforge.net/p/scintilla/bugs/2227/.

Turns out this is a fix for a problem introduced by eaa538c814f31ad8 and reported as part of #434. Confirmed by reverting that commit. Therefore, no option and no documentation required....

Alas, although AnchorCheck is fixed, confirmed that https://github.com/linkchecker/linkchecker/commit/eaa538c814f31ad86a84843cb1e7777c66370c2b has led to only the first instance of a broken link being reported. More on #663.

Closing as this seems it may well be a problem with the old binaries.

As above linkchecker-nagios was removed some time ago, no update here for 5 years.
