I'd love to see this feature added. I started a project using galois because I wanted more flexibility to use fields other than GF(2**m), which isn't available in other libraries...

Sadly I don't have any experience implementing erasure codes. :(

yeah that's an artifact of the lazy way I made they synthetic data set. my real set doesn't always match. I have permission to share (privately) the real data set...
