I think your analysis is reasonable - the book theme won't be discontinued, but we've intentionally been pushing features up into the pydata theme so that more people can benefit...
I'm moving this over to notebook 👍 (EDIT looks like somebody beat me to it). I've also changed the title to be more precise about the bug being reported.

Here's how Pandas looks in dark mode in JupyterLab:  So I don't think the bug is with Pandas, it must be how we're rendering it.

Does that mean we no longer need to address the "separate organization or not" question in the document? I'll admit that I have a strong preference to have a standalone...
@JohanMabille if it's helpful and possible time-wise, I could attend the meeting and answer any questions people might have. Would that help? (and if so, when is the meeting?)
