This same issue occurred for me using both Heltec v2.1s and a T-Beam, on 1.2.60 firmware.
This is occurring on 1.2.64 as well.
I spent some time the other week trying to hunt this down (maybe too much lol), I'm not a programmer so this may not be very helpful or productive, but...

Wouldn't BLE range be significantly shorter? Like we measure BLE range in feet, and LoRa range is typically measured in miles.
