You can always just fork it and edit it, since you already had a private pet plugin i'm assuming you have a developer.

Did you try not rebooting, and just re-logging to see if the color broke?

I left out that this is being tested on a 1.7.10 server w/ Carbon installed. Im not sure if that makes a difference.
