Yes, the current round robin allocator is about as simple as it gets, and we can certainly add a more sophisticated library implementation.

This is likely to be a compiler version problem, can you explain exactly what you've tried to compile and how? I'll try and recreate here and track down the problem

Thanks for the heads up. I'd not considered running the tooling via WSL, so this is something we can investigate.
