We do have [CONTRIBUTING.md](https://github.com/OpenModelica/OpenModelica/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md) but it's meant for developers, not for end users.

The mystery has been lingering for a while. I guess the information was lost with the transition to github, but I'm not sure.

This issue is not critical, but it will have to be sorted out, eventually. Unit checking saves lives, not having it is a big drawback.

@perost, this is not top priority, but at some point we'll need to get through it.
