When pixels are moved, they get the layer opacity remultiplied into them, and their opacity is used to blend them into the target location in the same layer

Thanks, yeah there might not be too much we can do about that since the behaviour is likely coming from how GTK / libadwaita sets things up when a header...

@Lehonti - this could be something to think about with your refactoring of the effect renderer. If the dialog is not modal, then Pinta either needs to block other edits...

Were you thinking this would show a small thumbnail in the dialog where the preview is rendered on a small copy of the image? Or e.g. just rendering it live...
