I think the most promising option is to use git alternates, but more experimentation needs to be done to confirm it will work.

I was able to resolve this by running `flatpak update` which pulled down the newer nvidia drivers (similar to this report https://github.com/bottlesdevs/programs/issues/241#issuecomment-1593738562).
