IIRC the npm api has an implicit time window, 18 months maybe? We've had some discussions in the past about trying to essentially make paginated calls to go back farther...

It has worked on Windows in the not-too-distant past, so I suspect an issue that was triggered either as part of a dependency update or perhaps an update of Node...
