I'm not sure what the issue was, but after deleting everything that I could find related to metals or bloop seem to have solved the inconsistency between metals and sbt....

I think this is related to this issue I reported a year ago https://github.com/wezterm/wezterm/issues/6330. I'm seeing the same issues and I was able to reproduce it by exiting the shell...

I'm confused about the log message as well. Even if it mentions "sources" it seems like it is trying (and failing) to fetch the dependency pom, not the sources jar....
I just tried switching to bloop as build server and it works ok, so It must be an sbt related thing when working as a build server
