I'm not sure what "datasets" are in this case (I don't use TrueNAS), but I do know that the BackBlaze desktop app explicitly does not allow backups of shortcuts, directory...
Same issue for me as well on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS. The instructions from @JagdSeelen / @djieno worked for me as well
