Seriously, sorting by stack size is practically useless.
Just had similar behavior on 3.2.3 on SMP server as well. Died, recovered everything from tombstone but my Evorsio Mantle and Blood Lamp sigil had disappeared entirely. Had inventory space...
Could always just make the keybind not assigned
