Yes, this is something we'd like to fix. The reason for this is related to #1 and #2; the platform really only supports a limited screen resolution currently.

FWIW, I think a simple day-by-day control (ie. option 1) with a slightly modified UX is a good way to go. I'd be comfortable with just a massively simplified state...
