All but the `software` change listed above were included in asdf 3.0.0. I reopened https://github.com/asdf-format/asdf/issues/709 to track the `software` issue.

I believe this was addressed in the block management rewrite https://github.com/asdf-format/asdf/pull/1537 Please feel free to reopen this issue if the asdf 3.0.1+ still has this issue.
