Yes, this is confusing. Files are not actually removed from the filesystem, but the reference is removed from the model. We should delete the file as well.

Does the [example](https://github.com/bradleyg/django-s3direct/tree/master/example) work for you? (with Django 3.2). I just tried it and couldn't recreate the issue.

Seems the issue it phonegap.js missing from the root directory.
