The resolution of this issue is currently blocked on issues like https://github.com/certbot/certbot/issues/6504 and https://github.com/certbot/certbot/issues/6464, but we can keep this open to act on depending on our decisions there.
We haven't had a chance to work on the issues in my last comment here, however, we're planning on working on them in the next year so be gone stalebot!
