This was fixed as part of another issue and should yield the same 14.4 result from the example in future versions.
This is already supported although button resizing still needs work. 
There are a few ways. The easiest (assuming you have floating apps enabled on your device) is to open the recent (running) apps screen and then tap and hold.
I did a quick search on your behalf. It appears floating or pop-up apps are limited at best on Pixel 6.
