2d sample glyphs for 2d mode

It looks a little strange when exporting a 2d image to see 3d objects. (It turns out the cube bug from #601 actually work pretty well for this purpose).

It would be nice to have 2d sample glyphs for publications.

This will be coming up in a future update for sure, it required a lot more refactoring to use a different geometry that allowed for this, so I deferred for a future release.
