I've just upgraded to 8.0.3 through my package manager. Of course initially the notifications were back, but after enabling the setting "Hide Windows incompatibility paths Message", everything is perfectly fine...

It's the same to me. Either of us can do it, it's just editing the README I assume, or were there some other docs that need editing too
Have you considered making this into a PR? It seems sensible, but I guess it has gotten stalled inside this issue. A PR may revive all of this.

A plain text, per document export would indeed be the easiest. I think CoNLL(-U) would indeed be too involved for little extra benefit.
