Thanks @scottsidwell! This looks promising. I'll work on a fix for this. Maybe this also resolves issue #2669 - it seems like the clickHandler is doing something fishy here too.

As some people described already this is a Proxy issue with Alpine. Alpine is using Proxy to have reactive objects - which is why this error is occuring.  Here...
