I understand the proposal, but something like this needs an iron-clad rationale before we can merge it. (mostly because I don't think such code is particularly common in the wild)...

Seems like some cache serialization issue, but I'm not sure what might have caused it, as the logic there hasn't been changed in a long time.
Is this something you can reproduce without Helm? I'm asking mostly because I haven't made changes to the project tracking logic recently, and it seems to work fine for me.
