is the audio track shorter than the video track of the mp4 file? Does it use CBR or VBR audio encoding?

You could try deleting (or renaming) the database file `/Users/myusername/Library/Application Support/UltraStarDeluxe1.3/Ultrastar.db` and then try starting the game again.
