nope there is no right now, beside some manpages there and there pkg_create(3) pkg_repos(3) pkg_printf(3). more manpages are welcome just need the time to write them down.

pkg search does perform updates but not silently, it first checks (silently) if there are newer version of the metadata to perform an update, if there is it does perform...
