Same for me, works ok in terminal nvim. 
The spectacle WM enables non-native full screen via alt+cmd+f and works with all apps. https://www.spectacleapp.com/
I just want to bump this issue up, this feature would be pretty useful to have.

You are right, I will fix this soon.
Did you first build the project (npm install && make)? The compiled files are not saved in git.
