I also have the exact same problem. Any progress on this? I dont think it is related to the @Startup annotation though.

In my case the class is a @javax.ejb.Singleton. Unfortunately I cannot remove the annotation. Are there any possible workarounds? @aslakknutsen : Any pointers on where I can fix it in...
