FYI Latest Cast SDK ([21.2.0](https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/release-notes#october-10,-2022)) includes this release note: > Fixed ForegroundServiceStartNotAllowedException with the [MediaNotificationService](https://developers.google.com/android/reference/com/google/android/gms/cast/framework/media/MediaNotificationService). The SDK version is updated in v7.28 in [this PR](https://github.com/Automattic/pocket-casts-android/pull/637). Hopefully, we'll stop seeing this...
