All downloads fail for some users after upgrading to 7.20.x
Since the update to 7.20 we've had multiple reports of users not being able to download any podcast episodes.
Since receiving the update earlier this morning, all podcast downloads are failing for me. I hit Download, it queues, then fails. This happens for all podcasts. I can play by streaming, but I almost always download before playing, so this is a major problem for me.
today's update seems to have broken something. I haven't been able to download a single episode of anything all day - every attempted download fails. I've tried rebooting the app, restarting my phone, going on/off wifi, fiddling with the app settings; nothing helps.
I've used Pocket Casts for years and love it. Suddenly, today, it won't download podcast episodes. Other things will download, and I checked permissions to make sure it has access to files. I reinstalled it but there was no change.
The logs from the first user don't show any red flags. Looks like there are a couple of downloads that failed because the URL didn't return a valid response, but it seemed like there were successful downloads in the logs.
It does seem like a possibility that one or two podcast providers may have had an outage, and that's what is getting reported.

Starting today my podcasts failed to download. there are 6 different podcasts that used to download regularly/daily, but starting today none of them downloaded (I manually pull the podcasts). NOTE all of these D/L fine using Spotify so I doubt it is an issue with Podcast Author, unless all of them have issues with your system? I notice there is a new feature that requires payment..is this affecting my downloads? I checked your support page with topics related to downloading- see below Common examples of errors and suggested action:

This episode appears to be a in a format we can’t play, some other apps might be able to though?

I SEE NO ERROR CODE JUST SAYS DOWNLOAD FAILED

Another support ticket indicating the problem was happening on both iOS and Android, which would seem to indicate a problem with the podcast feed itself:

There appears to be a systemic issue affecting multiple subscribers over the last half day or perhaps more, where PocketCasts is unable to download episodes - any episodes, on any podcast feed. Please see this tweet and replies for details: https://twitter.com/korbdub/status/1556786966032969730 There were about half a dozen people who reported the same downloading issue on Twitter and Play store reviews, so I suspect it was widespread, though brief. But I do appreciate that it's very hard to trace the problem if you can't reproduce it.

As of today, all my downloads are failing. Episodes can be streamed but none will download. I've tried resetting autodownload errors and changing the download folder from on phone to my SD card but nothing seems to work. I've tried force-stopping the app and reseting my phone. My wifi works well with other devices and my internet speeds are high (100mpbs down/10mpbs up). Anything I can do to get this working again?
