Thanks for reporting @RobertHenschel. Supposedly it was working but I haven't tried the feature in a while. Ill take a look when I got some free time.
+1. Code intellisense extensions use this kind of docs to work. It would be so useful to have some sort of support for documenting vars.
This became wont fix as I don't currently have bc account nor time to debug it.

Try right clicking on the SCM title (Source control), in the revealed menu select Stashes to enable the view. If that entry doesn't appear, verify that the Explorer: Enabled setting...
