@uclaros thanks, I know. This was just to see if it worked without custom logic in the gdal provider.
Also fiddling with a workaround specifically for WRF weather forecast output NetCDFs. That comes down to embedding CF-compliant georeferencing, so GDAL does not have to rely on a GEOLOCATION array....
