This is both a "This has annoying behaviors" and "Feature request"... If the palate isn't popped out to a separate window, and pool mode isn't set, it's closing the palate...
It would be nice to be able to use alternate dice images/results, such as FFG's and Modiphius' games custom dice, and the alternate results values for games using count successes...
