That was our impression also. We upgraded from statsd 0.5 to 0.7.2 with proxy patches only to find it didn't really help us out at all. I don't know how...

honestly after 3 years, I'd say people would take namespaced-labels versus waiting longer. there is no way we can do self-discovery without this.
