Exporting to Ms. Office is hard but I think it can read HTML documents without much hassle.

As per #223 we now can export notebooks to HTML

That extension says it makes Markdwon ignore anything between $...$ and $$...$$ but I wonder if it works with \begin{equation}...\end{equation} and the likes.
