How did you test your PR? I see this extraneous compose box when I try it with the compose box open. 
This also breaks the current behavior where if the current focus is on a draft, the file gets uploaded there.
Oh, sorry, I didn't mean "draft" -- I meant a message you're editing.
Have you fixed the behavior for message editing that I commented above, now that we've clarified I wasn't referring to drafts? I don'ts see any pushes here.

I'm still completely unable to upload a file to a message I'm editing. There's no way to move forward with this PR until that's fixed. Oh, and now it worked!

I don't love the transition when the compose box is already open. It seems like it should just remain in place, rather than disappearing and then reappearing.
