Cannot se Controls in Simulator when I'm running an exam

When I'm running the exam, no controls are visible. I can reach them using Tab, but for some reason they're not visible:

Everpad is not working in my Ubuntu 13.10 installation. When I start everpad-provider nothing happend. I also tried everpad-provider --verbose but no log traces shows up. Anyone has tested this...
