Events not registered when wormhole is outside of the DOM

I solved this by adding a special wormhole for my component but it still seems like something is off here.

I'm having the same issue. I can confirm that version 3.10.18 does not have this issue. Setting `Oj.default_options = { mode: :compat, use_as_json: true }` in a later version also...
