I had the same problem (using just a custom document), and managed to fix it by upgrading react and react-dom to version 17.

I'm trying to compile the Rust bindings ([viriw/rmp3](https://github.com/viriw/rmp3)) for my RP2040, but am facing the same issue as you. Did you find a solution?
